WebDec 4, 2011 · The 7D suffers from Canon's purposeful intent of not updating the firmware to add manual level controls to the record audio. Consequently the only type of audio the 7D supports is an automatic gain control which can create all sorts of hiss. It seems very short-sighted that Canon couldn't figure out a way to add manual controls to the camera.
