WebJun 24, 2024 · Photo 1: Remove plugs from the horizontal window blinds The first step in how to shorten mini blinds is to pry the plugs out of the bottom rail with a flathead screwdriver. Set the plugs aside for reuse later. If the pull cords are threaded through the plugs, cut them off close to the plug. WebPull the cord out of the bottom slat of the blinds. Untie the knot at the end of the two cords. Pull the cords through and completely free of the slats you want to remove. Rethread the cord through the bottom slat buttonholes.
